About Us

Master’s Academy of Fine Arts- Cape Town South Africa

Rebuilding community through one of the oldest rejected mediums- the Arts! Blood N Fire, RSA is taking Master's Academy across uncharted waters into Africa, across racial, cultural, and spiritual boundaries.
As we all know, South Africa is experiencing rebirth, much like the artisans of the Italian Renaissance. We believe artisans will again play a key
role in the rebuilding, and restoration of community. Our plan includes community leaders for Art, Drama, History, Dance, Music, and
Culinary Arts. Through study and re-enactment of the culture of days
past, with an idea of moulding and shaping, students will discover that
God has a plan to give them a future and a hope, reclaiming dignity and freedom. The school’s aim is to provide a legacy for future generations.

Master's Academy of Fine Art's Cape Town offers gifted leaders an opportunity to team up with creative youth providing more than the loose change the street child begs for at every traffic light. South Africa's youth deserve more than to be left at home, with the only opportunities offered them an invitation to join a street gang, or begging. We want to reach those places long devastated in their hearts by helping them discover their talents and gifting, building upon the ancient ruins, a new creation.

We have an eye on a more permanent building but currently meet in the director's home. The building will provide reasonable classroom space and stage/dinner theatre style area where coffee and light meals can be served. A place where photographic and other forms of visual art can be on display as well as access to the artists. We are a non-profit offering financial supporters an opportunity to partner with us by investing your tax deductible gifts, enabling our vision for Master's Academy of Fine Arts, through God's divine grace to rebuild Cape Town South Africa.

The school is basically provided for underprivileged youth. At present all our students are attending regular schools in their areas but no art programs are offered.

95% of today's delinquent youth come from broken homes. In a broken nest there are no whole eggs. A rogue elephant that has been rejected from its herd destroys whole villages as a result. The Cape Town school was established to provide a place for kids to belong, that is safe and supportive. Three basic needs of humankind: to belong, to be safe and to feel secure. We aim to provide an after school and Saturday environment for kids to drop-in, discover their God-given talents and how to excel in them. During the day the school is also available to street children as an alternative to begging at the street corners and traffic lights on the busy intersections of Cape Town. Additionally Master's Academy is supported and run by Blood N Fire, RSA; a church and ministry with the vision of rebuilding family in community. The school is meant to help prevent and or get kids off the streets by offering alternative opportunities to develop their gifting and earn a living rather than beg from the tourists visiting.

A great arts program really makes a difference in a child’s life. The challenge is to fund a great program that attracts and promotes the children. We are seeking donations to provide funds for kids in the surrounding communities of Cape Town, South Africa where kids can learn about music, dance, drama and the visual arts. The Information technology age we live in requires students have at the very least a basic operating knowledge of computers as well as a balanced education. Most children in these communities would otherwise not experience any of these things. Here are some different ways you, their community can help:

1) Make a Donation – we’ll use it to fund the programs, sponsor a student, or contribute to a teacher’s salary; providing music, art, drama, dance and technology programs to underprivileged kids.

You can make a larger, one time donation and/or support the program monthly- the more your involvement the more you help our kids.

2) Business Partnerships – We are inviting local businesses to invest in the children. Local businesses can support the next generation of families who presently support the local businesses. You can help a kid have a richer, more successful school experience by making a donation either to support one child, teacher or through provision for supplies for a department. And we will make sure everyone in the community knows you care enough about the community to help in a big way.

Paul said to the Corinthians: "Now I will teach you the most excellent way.... these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love and the greatest of these is love."

Master's Academy of Fine Arts - Cape Town, SA

This is the blogsite for MAFA-Cape Town. This is the place for students to communicate with other Master's Academies around the world. We are all interested in communicating pen pals, so please take the time to add your comments at the end of each update. Our goal is to communicate about our school, friends, family, city, country and continent. And to learn about the world outside of Africa!

There are fifteen of us ranging in age from 5 - 12. Isabel, Narcisse, Eunice, David, Deborah and Manuella, Liam and Taku were born in Cape Town. Israel, Jael, Samuel, Abigail, Penuel and Chelmy were all born in DRC Congo. Soon Isabel, Narcisse and Eunice will be moving to Angola. So we want to tell you about three countries in Africa. Two- South Africa and Congo from what we know and we will tell you about Angola as the girls update us. Susan hopes to go for a visit soon to Angola with the hopes of establishing a new school there for the three girls and their friends. They are the reason Susan started the school in the first place. We will miss them very much, but hope to stay in touch with post cards and letters frequently!

We want to start with a post card to all of you from South Africa! These are the lyrics to our national anthem. We are very pleased that the song is literally a prayer for God to bless our nation! And speaking of our nation... we'd like to take you on a few of the hotspots! Will add some pics to our next update... hope to see some from you soon, too! Table Mountain... here we come! Of course, last week we had a bit of a set back: there was an electricity outage and the cable car that takes folks to the top of Table Mountain stopped! People were afraid and three of them jumped out. But our friend Dion Fabe, a tour guide who was with them, calmed everyone else down and the cable car made it to its destination. Whew! There are quite the perils ascending this mountain and that's only one of them! :)
